A late-night bookshop-bar on the Pink Street. Fiction, feminist publishing, record stock, and a steady late-evening crowd.
"A bookshop that keeps the hours of a dinner party."
Named for the 16th-century chivalric romance by Bernardim Ribeiro, the shop occupies a long room on the Pink Street. The front half is a bookshop; the back half is a bar; the back wall is a changing roster of exhibitions and readings. On Friday it stays open until the Pink Street empties.
Why go. It redraws the question of what a bookshop is for. Also, the fiction stock is impeccable.
What to buy. The small-press feminist publishing section; the independent record stock, which rotates fast.
Nearby. The Pink Street itself; the Ribeira market; the ferry across to Cacilhas.
