Tigre de Papel

An anarchist and radical-publishing bookshop. Translated theory, Portuguese labour history, zines, and a reliably contrarian recommendation shelf.

"The shelf of propaganda is also the shelf of history."

A small storefront that does not pretend to be apolitical. The shelves are organised around tendencies; the back table hosts reading groups twice a month; the stock of pamphlets from the 1974 Revolution and the long political afterlife of it is the deepest in the city.

Why go. Because specialist political bookshops are an endangered form, and this one is a scholarly, serious example of it.

What to buy. The reissued Carvalho de Oliveira pamphlets; the back catalogue of Antígona and Letra Livre.

Nearby. The Anjos street markets; Cafe o Cais for a lunch stop.
